At this time in the war it was obvious the authorities had to work overtime to keep the services occupied. I went to courses on Current Affairs which discussed, Social Reconstruction, Local Government, the Education Act 1944 and the problem of India. We all had to attend and and I have a list of 20 Air Force officer, Wing Commander and others and 3 WAAF officers (myself, Dee and Stella). We also had a sports meeting commemorating 6,000 sorties by 460 Squadron. 15 participating RAF officers, the Station Military Band in attendance.
I had the dubious honour of partnering Group Captain Keith Parsons in the 3 legged race. He was the Station Commander and over 6 foot when the “Go” whistle was blown,

Groupie Parsons picked me up and tucked me under his arm and off he went. We won easily. I have a “chit” signed by him granting me a 48 hours leave pass. He made silly remarks about going to Grimsby for the weekend, but I never used the pass and still have it.
They filled in our time taking photos of us etc and I went to London in May to attend a School of discussion method run by a group of RAF officers Wing Commander and Squadron Leaders.
