PERSONAL. (1934, August 6). Townsville Daily Bulletin (Qld. : 1907 – 1954), p. 4.
There passed away at Townsvillle on
July 25 an old and respected resident
of Railway Estate in the person of
Mr. Thomas Baskerville. A native of
Cornwall, England, Mr. Baskerville
arrived in Townsvllle over 46 years
ago, and apart from several years of
farming on Lansdown Creek he re-
sided here continually. As a farmer
he experienced all of the vicissitudes
of a farmer’s life, droughts, floods
and bushfires and the ravages which
the cattle ticks at the time of their
advent to the coastal areas of Queens-
land, then made amongst his rather
fine herd of cattle. Withal his long-
ing to be back on the land never
abated. As a citizen be led an indus-
trious life and always took a keen
interest in local affairs. Absolute
honesty, loyalty, temperance and in-
dustry as well as an unbounded pati-
ence were some of tbe fine attributes
which make his passing more deeply
mourned, and regretted by his family
and a large circle of friends.
